So without taking much of your time let’s start today’s article and know in detail what is name server.

What are name servers?

The name server or name server is a part of DNS (Domain Name system) which we remember the domain name and the host name is derived from the number K IP domain. With the help of name servers one can access any website without giving its IP address.

For example, to access the binovy website on the Internet, you only need to search by typing binovy.com in your browser, not its IP address.

Name servers look like any other domain name. Generally any website has mainly two name servers which can be seen in something like –

ns1.servername.com
ns2.servername.com

Here server name is the server name of the website. The first name server is used as the primary server and the second name server as the backup. Name servers help to associate domain names with web server IP addresses to manage traffic on the Internet.

How does Name Server work?

Whenever you want to visit a website on the Internet, enter its URL in your browser to reach that website.

For example, if you want to access the binovy.com website, you need to search by typing 2intech.com in your browser and you will reach its homepage. To access any website on the Internet, you don’t need to enter its IP address into your browser.

When you type binovy.com in your browser to access the 2intech website, your browser sends this request to binovy’s name server.

Now binovy’s website name server replies with its IP address. After that, your browser sends a request for website content from that IP address. Finally, your browser receives the file from the hosting and makes it visible on the screen.

Here the function of the name server is that it translates the domain name to the IP address so that the server can understand which website the user wants to visit.

Difference between DNS Record and Name Server
Although DNS records and name servers work together, the two are distinct from each other.

DNS records contain information about which IP addresses correspond to which domain names, and name servers, on the other hand, help store those distinct DNS records.

You can think of name servers as a phone book while DNS records are different numbers in that phone book.

How to check the name server of the website?
You can find a website’s name server by entering your domain name into the Whois Lookup Tool .
