Proton VPN Browser Extension is free for users
Proton VPN is one of the most trusted free VPNs. The free version doesn’t offer all the features, but there are no time or speed limitations, and privacy and security are also trusted. They have apps for all popular platforms: Android, iOS, Windows, Linux, and Mac. Both free and paid plan users could use the apps. On the other hand, there are already extensions for Firefox and Chrome browsers, but only for paid plan users. The new thing is that now they are giving the free plan users an opportunity to use the browser extension.
The advantage of browser extensions is that there is no need to install a separate app. Although it won’t cover the entire system, just the browser, it’s a simpler solution in many cases. In Linux, Proton VPN officially supports GNOME versions of Debian, Fedora and Ubuntu – their derivatives can also be used on other Linuxs, but for example, there is no official app for Arch Linux, it was a bit of a hassle to use Proton VPN on Arch or Arch-based Linux. In such cases, using a browser extension is a convenient solution.
